31-year-old Brazilian legend Fernando “fer” Alvarenga has left the Imperial roster. The CS:GO team has brought in JOTA to fill fer’s shoes as the veteran’s future in the sport remains clouded in mystery. The rifler has left the squad after 10 months under Fallen’s leadership. In this time, Imperial were able to defy the odds and qualified for the IEM Rio Major. Getting to play in front of their home crowd, the team gave it their all but fell short at the group stage.

A (translated) statement by the official Imperial Twitter handle reads:
“Together we immortalize moments, inspire thousands, overcome ourselves and write beautiful chapters of our history. Thank you for the smiles, jokes, advice, for all the dedication… for everything. We will miss you fer.”
The double Major winner ends his tenure on the team with a 1.04 rating over the past three months. He was also instrumental to the team when it came to qualifying for the Major. He was the highest-rated member of the team in the Major qualifier, carrying them through some tough games.
The news of his departure comes after retirement rumors surfaced in December 2022. This was later followed up by rumors of JOTA joining the team, which have now come true.
It is currently unknown if fer has retired from the sport entirely or is simply looking for another team. Fans will probably have to wait for a statement from fer himself. If this is fer’s last foray into tier 1 CS, he ends his career with two Major wins, an HLTV ranking of 3rd for 2017 and countless trophies under his belt.
