New GTA Online Taxi business explained

The GTA Online Los Santos Drug Wars update has brought a new side business to the game. Not only are Taxis purchasable, players can also use them to earn a little extra cash on the side. The Downtown Cab Co. is now a proper business that players can visit to pick up jobs. Aside from that, players can also unlock a unique Taxi variant that can only be achieved via the Arena War expansion.

What is the new Taxi business in GTA Online and how does it work?

Players can either walk to the Downtown Cab Co. in East Vinewood or bring their own Taxi to start. Players don’t need to own one to start these missions. Taxi Work allows players to complete 1, 5, 50, or 100 fares. Players make a fixed amount of cash per ride and their tip is determined by how cleanly and quickly they reach the destination. A cap is placed on these tips after the 10th trip, and players make around $1,000 in GTA Online per trip.

Players can also use the red ‘Taxi Custom’ that is unlocked when players reach level 25 at the Arena War stadium. Another benefit for next-gen users is that Fast Travel is now available. According to Rockstar newswire:

“Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can take advantage of several new destinations that have been added to Downtown Cab Co.’s Taxi Service, with a special new Skip to Destination fast travel service. Call Downtown Cab Co. on your iFruit to request a Taxi, let your driver know where you’re headed, and hit Skip to Destination to beat the traffic. And GTA+ Members can really put the Skip to Destination service into overdrive, with just a 5-minute wait in between trips.”
