Gerard Pique has responded to the heated incident which happened between Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos in the El Clasico.

Gerard Pique produced one of the best performances of his life against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday. The Spanish International was the main man in the defence department for the Blaugrana and kept out the opponent’s attack with his matured defensive work.

The 32-year-old made fascinating 14 clearances, three interceptions and blocked three shots to not allow the Los Blancos to find the decisive goal. It was a very tough game and both the defense came to their team’s rescue to keep the scoreline to just one.

Ivan Rakitic scored the only goal in the game to hand over three points to Ernesto Valverde. Vinicius Junior’s lament finishing did not come to a conclusion as the Brazilian teenager spurned yet another chance to equalize the game in the second half.

However, there was a heated incident just moments before the half time which infuriated Barcelona’s Skipper Lionel Messi. The Barcelona forward was left in the ground for few seconds until the referee stopped the play.

From the replay, it was inevitable that the Los Blancos Captain left his hand out and elbowed Messi which resulted in bleeding for the Argentine. When Sergio Ramos went near to apologize, Lionel Messi showed his tantrums to the Spanish defender and therefore, had to be separated by the referee and Luis Suarez.

Barcelona’s defender Gerard Pique who pairs up with Sergio Ramos at the back for his national team has spoken about the incident between Lionel Messi and his compatriot. The Manchester United youth graduate has hit back at Real Madrid captain for leaving out his hand on Lionel Messi’s face.

It is understood that Real Madrid right-back Daniel Carvajal protested the referee to plead innocence of his captain despite being 25 meters away.

The 32-year-old said “He(Messi) had blood on his lips and was assault, but they are gestures that arise because the pulsations are a thousand. The referee and my friend Mateu have seen it, there are Madrid players who hear kicks 25 meters away, but I do not have the capacity to see them from 50.

“Although then said: I get great with all the players of Real Madrid. Then on the pitch you defend your colors, but when the match is over, the cordiality is mutual. We have many contacts. Compared to other years, it has nothing to do.”

Barcelona have won their last four encounters in all competitions at arch nemesis fortress Santiago Bernabeu. That is some stat which will light up Pique who enjoys playing in his ground.

“I love coming here because of the kind of atmosphere that is created, I like the atmosphere to be warm, I have a better time, there are other games where it is more difficult to motivate ourselves, when we come here we do it in conditions and to get the three points,” says Pique.

“It was another good match here, knowing the difficulty of playing at the Bernabéu, we played better than the other day, although the result has been less bulky, we have suffered when we had to suffer”

“We have taken a blow to the league, I do not know if it is final because there are still many games, the results show that we are well. The teammates make it very easy for me, in defense you have to be in order and play a lot with your head.”

Following this victory, Barcelona will play Girona in the Supercopa de Cataluyna final before taking on Rayo Vallecano in the La Liga action on Saturday.
