Hamilton hits back at Rosberg over ‘inconsistent’ statements
Lewis Hamilton is rearing to go for his 5th World title and was in high spirits while speaking to the media before the scheduled practice on Friday.
Rosberg, who has recently joined the Sky Sports team spoke about how Hamilton’s ‘inconsistencies’ could be taken advantage of and that was one weakness that his rivals could exploit going into the 2018 season.
Rosberg played second fiddle to Hamilton in 2014 and 2015 but came out on top in 2016 to win the F1 title and announced his retirement shortly after that.
While, Rosberg knows a thing or two about beating Hamilton, Hamilton feels that his consistent performances have led him to 4 F1 titles in his career.
Hamilton hit back at Rosberg for his comments saying that few people need to say such stuff to grab the headlines.
“I think I’ve proved that that’s not the case last year,” Hamilton said.
“I think there’s a lot of people who need to get headlines and that’s one way of saying it.
“The goal this year is to be even more consistent than last year. I think consistency is the main reason I won the world championship last year.” he added.
If Hamilton wins his 5th title this time round he would be at par with Juan Manuel Fangi, but Hamilton does not want to focus on that while going into this season.
“You don’t think about what could be in the sense of matching others. In my mind, I’m trying to break down new barriers.
“I’m trying to push the envelope, trying to see how far I can take firstly the opportunity that I have and also the ability I have and live to my full potential. I don’t know what that is, and that’s what I’m discovering.” he concluded.
