Mason has been asked to take over charge of the club till the end of the current season

Having had enough of Jose Mourinho, Tottenham decided it was best to let the Portuguese go before the end of the ongoing season. Floundering in form under Mourinho, Tottenham stared at the barrel if they were to hang onto him for any longer.

Already reeling under the brunt of COVID and further sent back by the P45 needed to be accorded to Mourinho, Tottenham have decided to buy their time when it comes to tying down a new coach to a long term deal. With the current season seeing just a month left, Tottenham have decided to veer clear of hiring anyone in a permanent capacity.

It saw the side entrust Ryan Mason with the job till the end of the campaign with the 29 year old being asked to take over the club. Well acclimatised with Tottenham, a side he had plied his wares for before a life threatening injury ended his career midway, Mason managed to open his account with a win.

Lloris Wants Mason To Be The Next Coach

Although it wasn’t the most convincing of performances, Tottenham managed to get over the line courtesy of a late Heung-Min Son penalty. In the wake of the 2-1 triumph over Southampton, Tottenham’s goal-keeper, Hugo Lloris has now given his assent for Ryan Mason being handed over the job permanently.

“Honestly if the club gives him this responsibility it’s because he’s got the confidence of people at the club,” the France goalkeeper said.

“He’s got the club DNA. Then he’s got the football approach he tried to bring to the team. I think in the second half, we saw a bit of his way and his approach.

“You would be surprised, you would be surprised. He’s ready. He knows exactly what to say to the players.
