Ishant Sharma names his favourite batsman between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar; the fast bowler is last of players who played with both.

As each day passes by, the comparisons between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar are getting intense, both have been the best batsmen of their eras and Kohli is still going strong and gradually nearing Sachin’s tally.

Therefore, between the Indian cricket fans, two camps have been generated, one who believes that Kohli has already outshined the master blaster, the other thinks that he is yet to achieve it or will never be able to do it.

Amidst all of this India’s ace bowler in the test format has given his answer. In an interaction with the Cricbuzz, Ishant was asked who is his favourite batsman between Kohli and Tendulkar.

“Virat Kohli is the best batsman I have ever seen play on a cricket field,” Ishant answered, a statement which he had on the tip of his tongue as soon as the question was asked.

Ishant has spent a lot of time in cricket on and off the field with the current Indian captain Virat Kohli. Both of them are from Delhi and have progressed through the ranks, into the Indian team together.

Moreover, there isn’t much gap between the debuts by both players for the Indian team. Ishant made his first appearance in the summers of 2007, whereas Kohli soon entered in 2008.

Ishant’s favourite captain between Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni?

In the same interview Ishant was also asked about who his favourite captain was, having played a significant amount of time under both Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.

Ishant gave a very straight forward reply, emphasising on the fact that he did not want to create any sort of controversy by leaning towards one side.

“Both Dhoni and Virat are my favourite captains. I can’t pick one and create a controversy.” Ishant said.

With time, Ishant lost his touch and had struggles but he made a comeback and cemented his place in the test team Whereas, Kohli went onto be one of the most successful players in the history of the game.

Meanwhile, it is yet to see where will Sachin and Kohli will stand after the latter retires, but surely India has been lucky to have the services of both players.
