Jose Mourinho delivers powerful rant after defeat to RB Leipzig

Jose Mourinho drops powerful rant in the post-match interview after he faces a 1-0 defeat against RB Leipzig at home in the Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur did not expect a defeat against RB Leipzig at their own home, but the horror of the North London club came true as they lost to the German side by 1-0 after Timo Werner scored the penalty in the game.

After the match, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho ranted in the post-match interview complaining about the exhaustive schedule and low performance because of key injuries.

The home side wasn’t at their best until the final 20 minutes but Mourinho was quick to shoot down BT Sport’s Des Kelly who questioned how long it took to see the ‘real Spurs’.

“Come on, what do you mean by the real Spurs? Come on Come on,” the 57-year-old began with. “Let’s be loyal to the boys and tell that they did everything they could do,” before then listing the issues hindering his side.

“[Erik] Lamela, you know how many training sessions he made with the team? “Zero. Direct from injury to recovering on the pitch with the physios, direct to 20 minutes of a game of the Champions League. That is our team. You can look at it and you see the two perspectives.

“One perspective is an amazing group with amazing guys that try everything. By another side, you see how we are at this moment,” Mourinho said.

“You look to the other guys, they play with [Patrik] Schick, with [Timo] Werner, with [Christopher] Nkunku. Nkunku is tired? Get out, comes [Emil] Forsberg. Schick is tired? Come out, comes [Yussuf] Poulsen. This is our situation. It’s like going to a fight with a gun without bullets.”

He lamented that Spurs face off with Chelsea on Saturday afternoon and explained his selection choices.

“I tried to manage the pieces that we had. Don’t tell me that Lamela and [Tanguy] Ndombele should start the game because they could not start the game.

“So these guys… fantastic. I cannot be happier to have guys like them with the limitations we have, but here we go and Chelsea drinking sparkling water with lemon watching the game on TV and Saturday morning, thank you very much for the choice Saturday morning we are there again.”

Mourinho finished the interview and swiftly went out of the sight, the Portuguese manager refused to answer whether Tottenham gave a poor performance last night.
