k0nfig returns as a stand-in for Heroic's Stavn at CS:GO Blast World Final

Following a great CS:GO Major run and a win at the Blast Premier Fall Final, Heroic will have to play the last tournament of the year without one of their teammates. Martin ‘stavn’ Lund has opted to take some time off, leading to the search for a stand-in. This search has led the Danish squad to Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke who returns to top-tier CS:GO after leaving Astralis a few months ago.

k0nfig makes CS:GO LAN return at Blast World Final 2022

Citing personal reasons for some time off, stavn will not be participating in the Blast World Final in Abu Dhabi. The team’s statement reads:

“The decision has been made a while ago to give Martin some rest after a long year and a 2023 season where we as a team wish to start our preparation for the year early. We believe Kristian (k0nfig) is the best possible replacement when exploring our options. Despite not having stavn with us for the World Final, we hope to continue our good form and Kristian is a great player that is hungry to show the world he has a place in the absolute top of CS:GO.”

Taking to Twitter to explain why needed a break, Martin ‘stavn’ Lund posted the following statement:

“2022 has been an amazing year in many ways, but also the hardest year of my life personally. I’m going to be spending some time with family and friends in this hard period. Huge thanks to all my teammates and @heroicgg for all the love, support, and understanding.”

This marks k0nfig’s return to the upper echelons of CS, albeit as a stand-in. After suffering an injury due to an altercation at a club in Malta, the rifler was out of commission. What followed was his departure from the Astralis, and the 25-year-old being out of a team. With a brief stint in Heroic, k0nfig can prove that he has what it takes to stay in tier-1 CS.
