Kavita Dalal to take part in WWE’s Mae Young Classic Tournament

Indian women wrestler, Kavita Dala will take part in the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament held by the WWE.

Kavita, who is a former weightlifter, is a student of Dalip Singh Rana, also known as The Great Khali. Khali, who owns Continental Wrestling  Entertainment in Jalandar. Khali wrestled in the WWE for close to seven years, making a big name for himself in the United States.

Kavita tried out in the Dubai tryouts held by the US based wrestling promotion. Kavita created history by becoming the first Indian woman to try out in the WWE. There was selected as one of the 32 women from around the globe to take part in the first ever Mae Young Classic.

“I am honoured to be the first Indian woman to compete in WWE’s first ever women’s tournament. I hope to use this platform to inspire other Indian women with my performance and make India proud” said Kavita.

“Kavita gave a strong performance at WWE’s 2017 Dubai tryout. She is an athletic and extremely strong woman who demonstrated a solid grasp of the fundamentals of sports entertainment, and a passion to improve that will serve her well in WWE’s upcoming Mae Young Classic tournament,” said Canyon Ceman, Vice President, WWE Talent Development.

Kavira was a constable who later decided to switch to wrestling. The WWE is keen on increasing its fan base in India, which gives Kavita a wonderful opportunity to make it in the WWE. For fans in India, Kavita will represent a fresh new face that we can all get behind. Who knows, she might even emulate the success that Khali achieved.
