WWE Superstar Edge today is seen as a childhood hero, a warrior worn down by age and ravaged with injuries, who has returned for one last song and dance, just for the sake of fans. That was not always the case. The WWE Hall of Famer was once the Rated R Superstar, the ultimate opportunist, one of the most hated villains on the roster. He was not above any action, no matter how heinous, as long as it served his purpose. However, it wasn’t always debauchery and acts of betrayal with him. He was also involved in a number of hilarious segments, a few of which have been trending on Twitter on the occasion of Martin Luther King Day.

An old video of Edge has resurfaced, in which he is seen using his status as civil rights activist to get out of a fight with John Cena in Arizona. The Rated R superstar claimed that he was not willing to perform in front of the fans there because Arizona was one of the last states to recognize ‘Martin Luther King Day’.
Instead, he sent out Johnny Nitro (John Morrison) because his great-great-grandmother was black, to which Cena hilariously responded saying “So?”

The viral video spawned several memes from fans who took the opportunity to showcase, in hilarious fashion of course, how ahead of time Edge truly was.
Edge could make WWE return at Royal Rumble
The Rated-R Superstar has not appeared on WWE TV since his loss to Finn Balor at Extreme Rules. However, PWInsider, are reporting that he is “penciled in” to return at the Royal Rumble.
There have also been rumors that he is set to face the new Judgement Day leader at Elimination Chamber, although neither of the two has been confirmed so far.
Edge has had an eventful run since returning to the WWE. While not a very active performer, most of his matches and feuds have more than delivered.
With the Royal Rumble coming soon, the Road to WrestleMania is truly on its way. It should come as no surprise that the WWE would want one of their biggest stars featured in it.
