From Goal Storm to eFootball, Konami’s journey has been spectacular. And this time, they are hosting the 28th-anniversary celebrations for their football gaming franchise.

Konami‘s journey in the football gaming world started way back in 1995. The debutant title in this genre was named Goal Storm. Released during the golden era of the game revolution, the title slowly but surely started picking up worldwide. Later in 2001, Konami decided to change the whole scenario for them before naming it International Superstar Soccer in 1997.

The title changed the name to Pro Evolution Soccer, and since then, it is still widely referred to by its acronym, PES. Even after Konami named eFootball and made it free-to-play, PES still rings in football fans’ ears. And to celebrate such success for 28 years, they bring festivities to the game.

28 years is a long time, and it calls for celebrations. And what better way to celebrate as a game developer than to give the fans exactly what they want? During the timespan of June 8th to 22nd, a beta test was conducted for eFootball’s Co-op game mode.

The test was done to assess the online performance of this game mode. While the game mode lets you play with multiple friends up to 3v3, the beat test period did not showcase it. Unless any of your friends chose the opposition team’s side, you would always be pitted against an AI.

Even then, the game mode received massive support from the community, leading them to officially include Co-op into eFootball. And, with the 28th anniversary coming up, Konami chose to mark the date as its initiation. The Co-op game mode will be added to the game on June 29th, allowing you to play against other players online.

New Co-op game mode-related campaigns will be added along with the release due to the celebrations. These campaigns will be added on July 13th. These will allow you to earn rewards via the Store page in-game after winning a certain amount of matches.

Additional information regarding the event

The 28th-anniversary celebrations kick off in eFootball on June 29th and will last till July 27th, spanning four weeks. And during this time, there will be challenges galore, the inclusion of Co-op, and much more to look forward to. Here is everything that is coming to the game:

  • eFootball Co-op mode (Launching on June 29th)
    • Campaign for Co-op mode with additional rewards (July 13th onwards)
  • Campaign: Challenges galore!
    • Legend Challenge Event: Take on the various club champions from Europe’s top leagues, including SSC Napoli and FC Barcelona.
    • Golden Goal Challenge Event: Take on rival players in a Golden Goal setting.
  • Campaign: The eFootball Festival
    • Claim various rewards during the 4-week celebration period, including a mixture of Epic Players, Show Time contracts, a potential total of 440,000 GP, and up to 200 Coins.

Rest assured; this is set to be an awesome celebration for all football fans. Especially those who adore Konami’s long-running tile, eFootball. The game looks to revolutionize football games with an ever-growing adapting game engine. And Konami will keep on adding to the game.
