LeBron James and the Lakers have been working hard on securing a good enough trade before the February trade deadline.

James, Rondo and now Lonzo are on the sidelines and the Lakers are feeling the heat during the business end of the season.

Lakers have been desperately trying to sign a NBA superstar so as to help LeBron build the dynasty that he and the Lakers have envisaged.

None of the superstars want to move to Lakers at the moment, at least that ‘s what the rumors suggest.

Anthony Davis’ reported move to Lakers seems to be falling apart, with some sources claiming that there was never any chance of Davis landing in LA.

Now, with Carmelo Anthony being traded to the Bulls, with Bulls looking to use him in a one-to-one trade, Lakers have ignited interest in signing LeBron’s good friend, Carmelo Anthony.

Carmelo Anthony finds himself in a weird spot, but could land a new NBA contract and team before the trade deadline.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sport, James has asked Magic Johnson to recruit Carmelo Anthony as soon as possible.

“LeBron James is over there and he has made it quite clear that he would like to play with Carmelo,” Chris Haynes confirmed on the Dunc’d On Basketball podcast.

“If we’re going off of the past, LeBron typically has a strong voice and teams usually operate in the manner of what is going to appease him

“He definitely has interest [but] I don’t know necessarily if the Lakers brass is all that interested in bringing Carmelo Anthony on board.” he added.

While a lot of NBA analysts believe that Carmelo could be just what the Lakers need, in terms of perimeter shooting.

LeBron loves to drive to the rim and then have a good 3 point shooter waiting for the outward pass on the perimeter.

But Haynes doesn’t quite see Melo’s utility in this Lakers outfit.

“I just don’t see from a fit standpoint, I just don’t see how that works.” he said.

However, Haynes conceded that if Melo is in the right frame of mind, he can add a lot to the Lakers team, in terms of mentoring and offensive play.

“If he has the right frame of mind, I think he serves a great value for a team, because he is still a great offensive player.

“He’s not that offensive player that he was in his prime. He can be a great catch-and-shoot player, he can provide you great, efficient scoring off the bench.

“We just don’t know what his mindset is. If his mindset is that he needs to go out there and fill up the statsheet that’s not going be him and I think that’s part of the reason that got him axed in Houston so early.

“With the Lakers, aside from LeBron James and Tyson Chandler, that’s a young group.”

“Is Carmelo at the stage where he’s willing to mentor and does it really value the Lakers for him to be taking minutes away from the [Kyle] Kuzma’s and Brandon Ingram’s.

“I don’t even necessarily know if it does make them a better team overall.

“It might get done but I just don’t see why it would be a good fit.” he concluded.

Now, with LeBron and the Lakers desperate to land Carmelo, do you think, the Lakers will be willing to give up any player from their roster in order to secure the services of Carmelo Anthony?
