Lionel Messi overturns defence into attack and humiliates Philippe Coutinho in process

Lionel Messi overturns defence into attack and humiliates Philippe Coutinho while taking the ball ahead in a match between Argentina and Brazil.

Saudi Arabia hosted Brazil Vs Argentina last night and surely all the fans in the stadium came to see Lionel Messi play in flesh at the King Saud Stadium, over where Argentina registered a 1-0 win over Brazil.

On the other side, Messi did not have an exceptional game rather he was decent according to his standards and it was not even needed since the match was more of a friendly game.

However, still, there were certain tensions on the ground since it Brazil and Argentina share a historic rivalry. Amidst all of this, Messi had certain moments on the field which brought the fans on their feet.

During the 79th minute in the game with Brazil chasing the 1-0 deficit, Messi made a brilliant tackle to relieve pressure on his team, before taking the ball over the halfway line.

Once in the opposition half, he then embarrassed former Barcelona teammate Philippe Coutinho with a nice bit of skill, where it can be seen that Coutinho was chasing Messi but the Argentine International’s acceleration was too much for him.

Messi completely fooled Coutinho with a quick change of direction and even picked out a teammate with his through ball. Meanwhile, local fans were excited to see the Latin footballers fancying their skills.

But overall the game was below par and saw two missed penalties, as both Gabriel Jesus and Messi missed the spot-kick, although the latter was able to score on the rebound, which was the only goal in the game.

This is the second time when Jesus has missed a penalty in a similar fashion, the first time it was against Atlanta in the Champions League game.
