Man United Transfer News: Manchester United decides to give a pay rise to Angel Gomes as Chelsea fuels their interest for the prodigy.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, Manchester United is set to give a lucrative pay rise, which will make him earn around £1.5million a year, in order to ward off the interests posed by Chelsea.
The 19-year-old player is in the final days of his current contract with Manchester United and he is yet to agree on terms on a new deal after rejecting an offer of £20,000 a week in January.
The young English International is deemed to be a future prospect for the Red Devils, therefore that is why the club is looking for securing his services.
The Telegraph claims that the new deal on the table is worth almost £30,000 a week, with bonuses for appearances, goals and trophies won. Gomes is already thought to be on £17,000 a week, meaning his weekly salary would rise by around £13,000.
Manchester United’s young player of the year in 2018 has attracted the interests of several clubs including Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, whose philosophy of promoting youth has interested Gomes.
In his first season as the Chelsea manager, youngsters like mason Mount, Reece James and Fikayo Tomori have managed to seal their spots in the first team.
On the other side, Ole Solskjaer has also brought young talent into the United first-team over the last 18 months, as seen with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood.
But Gomes hasn’t got as many minutes as compared to his above mentioned teammates. Now it is remained to be seen, with this wage structure will Gomes accept the new deal or not.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail further reported that Gomes is said to have recruited popular agent Pini Zahavi, who is believed to have held talks with Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia.
