Manchester City’s forward and Argentine international Sergio Aguero was hospitalised in Krasnodar after he fainted during the half-time of the friendly game against the African nation Nigeria as per the reports from local media.

Aguero played a significant part in the narrow 1-0 victory over the 2018 Football World Cup hosts Russia after his shot rebounded back to him. The forward was a crucial point of attack for the Argentina team, netting another goal in the 36th minute against Nigeria before being replaced at half-time.

According to Sports Express, the Argentine physio and doctors took the decision to transport the forward to a hospital as a precaution. Without the striker and Lionel Messi, Argentina succumbed to a 4-2 loss to Nigeria.

Nigeria came back to haunt Argentina:

Argentina began the friendly encounter with Aguero upfront, without their talisman Lionel Messi. Messi asked for some time to recover from his busy schedule to keep himself fresh ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The forward has scored in all the games that Argentina played in the World Cup qualifiers. Messi’s hattrick in Argentina’s do-or-die encounter lifted the Argentina team to Russia, finishing second in the group behind the toppers Brazil.

Argentina opened the scoring on the night, with a well-taken goal from the veteran midfielder Ever Banega in the 27th minute of the encounter. Sergio Aguero doubled the advantage for the La Albiceleste before he was substituted at half-time. Nigeria struck one back before the break to leave the match open and hanging at 2-1.

Nigeria, after the break, came hard at the opposition scoring twice in the first ten minutes of the second half to take a 3-2 lead over the former World No.1 team. It was the combination between former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi. The duo struck three goals out of the four goals that the African nation scored on the night, with the fourth one from Brian Idowu to wrap up the win.
