The Premier League club has long been linked with Toby Alderweireld.

Manchester United have been looking for a centre back in the summer transfer window. Jose Mourinho is looking for somebody with desire and experience in his catalogue and hence, has learnt of Toby Alderweireld’s availability.

Currently at Tottenham Hotspur, the Belgian defender has been widely linked with a move away from the north London outfit. This is mainly because of the fallout that he had with his manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Manchester United made an initial approach in trying to sign their target, but pulled the plug when Spurs demanded £75 million for their player. The 29 year old’s contract ends at the end of the 2018-19 season and thus, the Red Devils felt that Tottenham were trying to fleece their pockets.

However, it can be confirmed through various sources that the Premier League giants have re-ignited interest in their primary central defence target.

Tottenham are now ready to let go of their out of favour man Toby for a fee which is speculated to be £25 million, just one-third of what they were asking a month ago. Toby Alderweireld’s departure looks like an almost certain transfer now that Spurs are ready to sell their man for less.

Jose Mourinho is expected to complete his fourth signing of the summer after the end of the World Cup, following up those of Diogo Dalot from Porto, Lee Grant from Stoke City and Brazilian playmaker Fred from Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk.
