The Clash between Bundesliga Giants Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund will probably be the last competitive match in the German League before a long summer break. Only one team can lift the trophy when this two sides meet each other. Here is the match preview for the DFB Pokal Final : Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Black and Yellows will face Eintracht Frankfurt at the Olympiastadion in the DFB Pokal final on Saturday night. Both sides will clash for one last time this season to earn something from this campaign.
Frankfurt had a great season in the first half of the campaign and they seemed like they were surely going to be in the Champions League next season, But Niko Kovac’s men lost their track in the second half of the season and also dropped their form as a result of which they finished on a disappointing position 11th on the points table in Bundesliga.
On the other hand, The Eagles had a pretty easy run during their journey of the league cup competition. The only tough team that they faced in the DFP Pokal cup was Borussia Monchengladbach in the semi-finals where Die Adler defeated them in the semi-finals and reached into the final of the competition.
Borussia Dortmund have had a very average campaign this season totally opposite to their standards. They finished their campaign on the 3rd place on the points table and 18 points behind their league leaders and arch rivals Bayern Munich, whom Die Schwarzgelben are expected to challenge for the league title. Thomas Tuchel’s men who have a rather disappointing season till now can take something out of this season by winning the DFB Pokal in the German Capital Berlin. The team has been slightly in form in the end of the season when they won four games and drew two games in their last six fixtures. They came back from behind to eliminate Bundesliga winner and German Champions Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the DFB Pokal semi-final.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been involved in nine goals (seven goals and two assist) in his nine competitive games against Frankfurt. Meanwhile, Marco Reus has scored four goals and has assisted three in his last five DFB cup games.
Since the start of the Bundesliga this two sides have squared off 92 times against each other in competitive matches and Borussia Dortmund has had the upper hand in the fixture with 44 wins, 16 draws and 32 defeats. Borussia Dortmund have become the first club to reach four successive DFB Cup finals and this will be fifth this season. The so called ‘Hawkeye’ will be deployed in this game with video assistants on the standby.
