Microsoft Offers Separate 10-Year Deals to Sony and Nintendo; Here’s What They Are

To Nintendo

Microsoft is offering to make a 10-year deal with Nintendo that includes bringing all of the Call of Duty games further out on the Switch. Although Switch is a fairly advanced piece of machinery, The system requirements of Call of Duty are too much. It will be interesting to see how the company deals with bringing the Switch Call of Duty games if the buyout goes through.

To Sony

This is where the bread and butter of the buyout is. Sony is going around countries, convincing people that the deal between MS and Activision is illegal. Microsoft responded by saying that they are lagging in the Mobile gaming space, which is why the buyout is being done. Sony also refused the deal of making the Call of Duty games available on the PS Plus subscription.

In hindsight, this might seem a good reason for Sony to accept the deal. But consider this, Sony provides full games at full prices, and if they start working in terms of subscription-based models like Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, it will hamper their business model. Microsoft provides games for 10 dollars a month in the Game Pass, while Sony is concerned with selling full titles for 70 dollars. The enemy might seem obvious, but the story runs deeper than this.

For now, this is the only information about this deal. If the buyout goes through, it will be a new dawn for Activision, Microsoft, and Nintendo. Because Sony has refused this deal, they may or may not be missing out on tons of profit; we’ll find out soon enough.
