MS Dhoni vs Amrapali: Chennai Super Kings captain has moved to Supreme Court against a brand which he endorsed back in the day.

Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni has moved to the Supreme Court against Amrapali Group. With the complaint being filed through his advocate Shekhar Kumar, Dhoni seeks protection of his ownership rights on an over 5,500-square feet property booked in a project by Amrapali Group.

“This application is being moved by the applicant [MS Dhoni] to protect his rights qua his ownership and possession of Penthouse apartment in Amrapali Sapphire Phase-1 which was agreed to be sold to him vide agreement dated 31 August 2009,” Dhoni’s advocate Shekhar Kumar mentioned in the complaint.

Dhoni has also mentioned that he had paid INR 20 lakh for the property a decade ago but hasn’t received its possession despite till now. While no exact monetary value was mentioned, it is estimated that the property currently values around over INR 1 crore.

“It is respectfully submitted here that the price paid by the applicant is certainly not a paltry amount,” Kumar further said. Dhoni’s advocate also added that since the cricketer was Amrapali Group’s brand ambassador back in the day, he had received the property at a a discounted amount.

It is understood that Dhoni seeks possession of the property from the Supreme Court.

It is worth mentioning that Dhoni had earlier moved to Supreme Court regarding being duped of nearly INR 40 crore from Amrapali Group.

“The builder, Amrapali Group, owes an amount in excess of Rs 38.95 crore of which Rs 22.53 crore is towards the principal amount and Rs 16.42 crore towards interest calculated at 18% simple interest per annum,” Dhoni was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times a month ago.
