Chennai Super Kings have played a very smart game, as they spent frugally until the very end of the auction.

The Chennai franchise were ridiculed for their buys on day one, as their squad resembled one that is preparing for one last ride in the IPL.

Filled with ageing all-rounders, CSK needed to bring in many young players in order to balance their squad ahead of the IPL season. With Watson, Bravo and Jadhav in their squad, CSK were looking for bring in some good quality Indian batsmen and fast bowlers in the second day of the auction.

The Chennai franchise did well today, as they spent smartly and brought in good quality in the shape of Shardul Thakur, Sam Billings and Deepak Chahar.

CSK also managed to nab South African sensation, Lungi Ngidi as the young pacer will play his maiden IPL season at the Chepauk.

All of a sudden, CSK managed to get a couple of Indian fast bowlers in addition to Ngidi and Billings to give their side a much shine to it.

With an opener still missing, CSK went back in for Murali Viajy, as the former Chennai opener made his way back to where it all started for him.

Vijay was a great buy for CSK, as he would fill their requirements of a proven Indian opener. A smart buy for CSK!
