LeBron James is one of the richest players in the world, and that’s thanks to one man. At the age of 17, King James formed a bond with Maverick Carter that would shape their futures. Maverick, LeBron’s senior, faced academic struggles in college but recognized his potential as LeBron’s business manager.

LeBron James put Maverick Carter in Nike as an inside man to ensure $30 million-a-year deal
The partnership between LeBron James and Nike is well known. Having recently signed a lifetime contract with the apparel brand, they have had an excellent relationship thus far. However, none of it wouldn’t have been possible if not for one man. Maverick Carter, The King’s business partner.
Back when he was in high school, LeBron became wary of the immense power he had. His exploits on the basketball court had earned him a certain degree of fame. And, with fame comes power. Something he knew exactly how to wield.
The King’s plan of action? Well, he decided to plant an inside man in Nike. With a $30 million contract on the line, Bron was eager to secure the deal. And, for that he would need important information. So, he put Maverick Carter in, and Carter went to business learning all he could about James’ future shoe brand as an intern.
“When he got the internship, Carter decided he would quit basketball and quit school in order to prepare to work with LeBron when he became a pro. Carter and LeBron decided Carter would go to work for whichever shoe company LeBron chose to sign with. Carter would be LeBron’s man inside.”
