In the latest episode of the First Take, Stephen A. Smith brought up the ‘elephant in the room’ – as Steve Nash had termed the Harden situation. Rumors of James Harden making his way to Philly have been floating around ever since Daryl Morey took over the reins at the Sixers office.
The Rockets have always shot down the idea of trading Harden. This opened the gates to various possible James Harden trade destinations.
All of the talks had died down when the Rockets made moves to boost their roster, till Harden did not report for practice. Harden’s late return to Houston for practice sessions made everyone question if Harden is content about staying in Houston or he wants a trade away still.
Stephen A. Smith believes the Sixers should trade for James Harden
Stephen A. Smith believes the Sixers have to take a swing and recruit James Harden, even though if it means parting ways with Ben Simmons. He praises Ben Simmons for the player he is and says, ‘Ben Simmons is a jump shot away from becoming LeBron James 2.0’.
While praising Simmons, Smith reminds us to not forget the kind of accomplishments Harden has under his belt. Harden has averaged 25+ppg since 2012 and has averaged 20+ppg over the last three seasons.
I’m getting sick and tired of people acting like they’ve forgotten who the hell JAMES HARDEN really is! pic.twitter.com/HrPwCvbGsg

Making a trade for a proven scorer like James Harden suits the Sixers really well right now. With the solid centers they have in Joel Embiid and Dwight Howard, along with Tobias Harris and sharpshooters Danny Green and Seth Curry, the Sixers could be on their way to the promised land with Harden in the mix.

While this is still a theory, Daryl Morey and the Sixers ownership should definitely look into it.
