The James family is dominating the world of basketball in 2023. LeBron James is currently leading the Los Angeles Lakers into what could be a deep Playoff run and his eldest son, Bronny James, is set to commit to a university of his choice going into this summer. Stephen A. Smith however, seems to only want to talk about the former.

Bronny, given his lineage, has always played the game of basketball with an extremely high level of expectations from others being placed on his shoulders. Despite this, he’s proven himself to be an extremely proficient player at the high school level, ranking in the top 20 of seniors of his class of 2023.
With how much scrutiny he’s been facing ever since he started to become known for playing basketball, it’s safe to say that he can handle himself in the face of pressure. Stephen A. Smith, despite his job, is one man who refuses to scrutinize him.
Stephen A. Smith and Bronny James embrace at the Lakers game
Bronny James and the rest of the James family including LeBron’s children, his wife, and his mother were all present at the game where the 20-year veteran passed up Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in all time scoring. Seems as though LeBron got a similar level of support for his Game 6 against the Grizzlies as Bronny was in attendance.
During the game he would hype his father up, celebrating his end of quarter 3 with him with his celebration when the court cleared, he could be seen dapping Stephen A. Smith up, as it’s made apparent that the two do have a relationship of sorts off the court.

At the moment, the Sierra Canyon alum has not accepted any of the offers that have been thrown his way. The college at the forefront seems to be USC as they have sent him an offer. The Ohio State Buckeyes are also looking to add him to their roster along with schools like Oregon and Memphis.
Why won’t Stephen A. Smith talk about Bronny James?
Despite Stephen A. Smith consistently berating NBA superstars on their performances in the league, he seems to draw the line at players’ children. Bronny James will not be getting scrutinized by Smith on national television until he makes it to the NBA.
“I’ve never talked about Bronny James and it’s because of his father. I think it’s unfair to bring that kind of scrutiny on the kid and I’m very protective of him in that regard,” said Stephen A on ESPN’s First Take
