“Ben Simmons is nowhere close to being the second coming of LeBron James”: NBA fans absolutely torch the Sixers star’s abysmal play in their Game 5 loss to Trae Young and the Hawks

NBA fans go off on Ben Simmons after he scores merely 8 points in the Sixers Game 5 loss to the Hawks and compare him to LeBron James.

Don’t let the fact that Ben Simmons shot 50% from the field fool you as the Sixers ‘star’ attempted a measly 4 field goals and made 2 of them in a crucial Game 5 against the Atlanta Hawks. To pile onto this horrid offensive game of his, Simmons went an abysmal 4-14 from the free throw line. Credit to him though for making 2 FTs at the 4:23 mark of the 4th.

The Philadelphia 76ers seemed to have found the elixir to moving past the Hawks in games 2 and 3 as they stopped putting Danny Green on Trae Young and replaced him with Ben Simmons and Matisse Thybulle. This novelty of having lengthy defenders quickly on him wore off as Game 5 saw Young dominate.

Trae decimated the Sixers down the stretch with a flurry of floaters and a couple sneaky layups. This should be expected from the man who led the league in floaters made. It’s stunning how the Sixers with 3 All-Defense selections gave up 51 points in the final 15 minutes of the game.

Ben Simmons gets lit up on Twitter by NBA fans.

Ben Simmons ruined what would’ve been dubbed the ‘Seth Curry game’ as the Sixers sharpshooter went off for 36 points on nearly 70% shooting from the field. Simmons on the other hand, had a triple single, as Chuck would say, and was a no show on offense after the Hawks built up a 2020 Miami Heat-esque wall in the closing minutes.

NBA fans did not let up on the Ben Simmons slander as Twitter blew up with an array of fans calling him out on being crowned the ‘Fresh Prince’ behind LeBron James’s ‘King’ moniker. “Simmons is a jumpshot away from being LeBron James,” is a narrative that has been getting pushed for far too long; a narrative that will never come into fruition.
