Bronny James Draft Year: LeBron James' 18-Year-Old Son Will Enter the NBA Sooner Than You Think

Until about  8-9 months ago, it’s fair to say that the interest in Bronny James had almost died out completely. In fact, some were even saying that the only reason he’d received any past hype at all, was because LeBron James is his father. Evidently though, if that was ever the case in the past, it sure as rain isn’t the case.

The 18-year-old has shown almost explosive improvement in the last few months. As per scouts, he is essentially the perfect role player on the high school level and is even arguably the best defender in his age group. In fact, Jonathan Givony, ESPN’s top youth scout, even had this to say about the young man.

“Bronny James is now a projected top-10 pick thanks to the significant jump he’s made at Sierra Canyon, developing into arguably the best perimeter defender in his class while making strides with his shooting and playmaking”

There is a lot of praise being sent his way right now. And as you’d expect, that has brought attention to when this man will be eligible to be drafted into the NBA, a question we will be answering right here. So, let’s dive right in, shall we?

When will Bronny James be eligible to be drafted into the NBA?

Bronny James is 18 years old at the moment. Meaning that as per the rules, he is still a year away from attaining eligibility. So, it is likely that he is drafted as part of the NBA’s 2024 Draft class.

Of course, this can also change. You see, while Bronny has been making very good progress, he does still need to develop further. And this, in turn, may mean that he will choose to stay in college for longer. Frankly, that might be a very good decision, considering how many prospects have flamed out early simply because they weren’t ready.

At the moment though, the young man has the world at his feet. As per On3, he is now a 5-star recruit, and has a national recruiting class ranking of 9th overall, while Rivals, ESPN, and 247 Sports still have him at 4 stars, with rankings of 43rd, 28th, and 34th respectively.

James even showed out at the High-School McDoanld’s All-American Game, battling valiantly against the projected top pick of the 2024 NBA Draft class. He hit on 5 three-pointers, on his way to 15 points in the game. All in all, the man can really do whatever he wants. Sure, LeBron James is waiting for him vehemently in the NBA. The man even said this on his intent to The Athletic’s Jason Llyod.

“My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny (James) is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

That said, there is college first. But, where has the man received offers from, and which one stands as his likeliest destination?

Which college is Bronny James going to?

As of the time of writing, Bronny James has still not committed to any college. However, reports say that he is currently choosing between Ohio State, the University of Southern California (USC), and the University of Oregon.

Other schools that have offered scholarships to him include Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan, North Carolina, and UCLA. Fair to say, no matter where he goes, the man is sure to develop into a whole new player ahead of his inevitable venture into the NBA. And we can’t wait to see how it all goes down.
