“Chris Paul didn’t cheat the process or join a superteam”: Kendrick Perkins praises Suns star for going on a championship quest ‘the right way’
Kendrick Perkins makes a massive claim about 16-year veteran Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns’ incredible run to the NBA Finals.
Remember when everyone was worried Chris Paul was falling off? How things can change two short seasons.
At 36-years-old, Chris Paul is arguably the best player on a championship team and is headed to the NBA finals. For the first time in his career, he has been granted the chance to win a ring. And given that he sent the Bucks home with a 41-point explosion, we doubt anyone would confidently bet against him.
More than the Finals run itself though, some fans have been celebrating the player’s journey prior to it. And recently, Kendrick Perkins announced that he couldn’t agree more with this demographic of fans, while also aiming a slight dig at the Brooklyn Nets.
Let’s get into it.
Kendrick Perkins gives major props to Chris Paul while throwing shade at James Harden
Winning a championship ain’t easy.
Even if you are a superstar yourself, you need a second star, role players that suit your game, and sometimes, a serious dose of luck.
Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns have all this and more. Their young players have stepped up as high-value role players, while their veterans have been incredible too. The team plays with a verve and energy that is quite simply special, even in the NBA. And CP3 deserves a massive chunk of the credit for that.
The Point God chose to come to a team that was promising but wasn’t looking to contend anytime soon. And after getting a little help from the front office, the player has now led the team to the finals.
Paul’s patience, resilience, and eventual success have been an inspiring story for many in the NBA community. And evidently, this run has had a very similar effect on Big Perk as well. Take a look at the tweet below.
Yes, CP3’s finals run is one of the most impressive ever b/c of HOW he did it. He didn’t cheat the process by joining a Super Team! He went down to Phoenix and got it out the mud and led a young group of guys with Zero play off experience to the Finals! Kudos CP3! Carry on… pic.twitter.com/f6wsKpavmV

Now to be fair to players like James Harden, you can understand their desperation to win a ring. But, at the end of the day, we can’t help but agree with Perk on this one.
It is his grind and patience that makes us appreciate his run so much more than one by a superteam. And frankly, we can’t wait for these finals to commence.
