Being the only child, Christiana Barkley is extremely close with her father, Charles Barkley. Displaying their support and admiration for each other on several occasions, their father-daughter bond is pretty special. However, being a “girl dad” comes with its own struggles. According to Sir Charles, it’s “the worst freaking thing” when daughters have crushes on someone. Revealing the same on the “New Heights” podcast, the TNT analyst disclosed Christiana’s crush on Travis Kelce.

Each father reacts differently when they learn about their daughter’s love life. Chuck is one of those who gets pretty uncomfortable. Apart from revealing his daughter’s affinity towards Travis Kelce, the Round Mound of Rebound also spoke about an encounter he had with Christiana’s “hook-up”.
“Dating in high school is a waste of time”: Charles Barkley
On the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast, Barkley would talk about Christiana’s interest in his podcasts. The Phoenix Suns’ legend also confessed that his daughter had a crush on Travis Kelce. Further expressing his dissatisfaction after learning about her daughter’s crushes, Sir Charles said:
“You know what, it’s so weird when your daughter has crushes on people and like uhh cause it’s my baby girl.”
The NBA Hall-Of-Famer even narrated an encounter he had with Christiana’s “hook-up”. While the analyst believes he treated the boy well, his daughter called him an “a**” for not being nice enough.
“When they came to the house, I said ‘Hey, I’m Christiana’s dad, welcome to my house. If you need anything, let me know.’ Then I leave. Afterwards, my daughter comes screaming at me ‘You’re such an a**. Why can’t you be nice?’ I’m like ‘Was I not nice? What do you mean I was not nice? That’s the nicest I could be to a boy who’s coming here trying to hook-up with my daughter.”
Lastly, the 1993 MVP expressed his aversion to high school dating. Requesting his daughter to not be committed while in high school, the former 11-time All-Star wanted Christiana to go to college, get a job, and be an independent woman.
“I think dating in high school is a waste of time, to be honest with you. You never gonna see him again, hopefully.”

Despite all his reservations and hiccups in being a ‘girl dad’, in the end, he was better than most fathers could even hope to be. And because of it, his daughter Christina is an incredibly successful woman, being a role model for children across the globe.
