“Damian Lillard is waiting desperately for a trade to the Knicks”: Stephen A Smith makes an absurd claim about the Blazers star’s ambitions for this offseason
Stephen A Smith makes a very bold claim about Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard and his preferred trade destination
Can someone please tell us what in the world is going on with Damian Lillard?
Most times, when NBA insiders report something, it can be considered to be true at least 8 times out of 10. However, with the Blazers star, it’s really closer to 0.
The franchise itself has been far too scared to make bold moves that’d take the team to the next level. Instead, every season, they make a minor move, getting a close to elite wing defender, who can shoot threes as well. And yes, while that is probably a dream player for most contending teams, Portland is far from being a contender right.
This meekness from the front office convinced many in the NBA community that the player was headed out. And, despite basically all of them being disproven or denied to a certain degree, it seems Stephen A Smith has lined up to take a shot at this whole situation as well.

Stephen A Smith claims that the New York Knicks will on the top of the list of Damian Lillard’s preferred destination list
Stephen A Smith is probably the biggest fan of the New York Knicks out of all the analysts on television. So, take this report with a massive grain of salt.
Still want to know what the ESPN analyst said exactly. Take a look at the tweet below.
Stephen A. Smith, on @SiriusXMNBA, says that although Dame Lillard has not yet demanded a trade, Smith knows “for a fact” that if Dame were to be traded, New York “would be his number 1 destination,” adding “I’m telling you what I know. I’m not guessing.”pic.twitter.com/kAuSp5P5ZB

Yeah…
We hate to disappoint any optimistic Knicks fans reading this, but this really is nothing but baloney.
While the star isn’t exactly at his happiest with the Blazers, he’s still made it clear that he wants to wait one more year. And if the franchise makes any significant process, the star will stay.
Really, the best chance for the franchise to acquire him, is keep their cap space high. And as soon as next season rolls around, offer him all the money he wants.
But as of now, we can’t call this any more than a pipe dream.
