"Deandre Ayton is David Robinson 2.0": Kendrick Perkins outdid himself with another legendarily bad take ahead of Suns vs Bucks Game 2

Kendrick Perkins lit yet another fire ahead of Game 2 of the NBA Finals by comparing Deandre Ayton to the legendary David Robinson.

Perk was on The Jump ahead of an exciting Game 2, and he looked pumped to talk about his favorite young big man at the moment. However, his words make it seem like he got a tad carried away by it. Do take a look at the tweet below.

“Can we take a moment and appreciate Mark Bryant? Cuz I think he flies under the radar a little bit. When you look at Mark Bryant, he has been a long-time assistant for 20+ years.”

“A guy that worked with Dwight Howard when he was in Orlando. A guy that’s also worked with Serge Ibaka, Steven Adams. And he’s now working with Deandre Ayton.”

“And what I notice about Deandre Ayton is, we all know he had the skillset. He has that killer mentality, he has that dawg in him right now. Dominating on both ends of the floor.”

“But the thing that impresses me the most about him is his rebounding. The way he’s able to rebound perimeter-wise. You know it’s not just standing in one spot and snagging, the way he’s able to maneuver and move and go get rebounds is something fun to watch.”

“And I think he’s (Deandre Ayton) is a David Robinson 2.0, in my opinion.”

NBA fans react to Kendrick Perkins calling Deandre Ayton a David Robinson 2.0

There’s no two ways about it – Perk went too far overboard with his Ayton comparisons. In truth, Ayton has already been compared to The Admiral right back from his Arizona days given his physique and his skillset.

However, Ayton has not displayed the dominant mentality displayed by all-time greats. A big man of the caliber of David Robinson could play like the MVP of the game at all times.

Ayton definitely has a ways to go and many skills to polish before he becomes a true top-5 center in the league today. However, pointing this out to Perkins only served to get him to double down on his hot take.
