Exhausted By Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Near 15 Second Free Throw, Suns Fan Trolling Him with $100 Bills Resurfaces on Reddit
Giannis Antetokounmpo has established himself as one of the best players in the world. Over the past few seasons, Antetokounmpo has won back-to-back Most Valuable Player honors and even bagged the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2020. However, the 2020-2021 season was the most successful for the Milwaukee Bucks superstar. In fact, the dominant Forward led the Bucks to their first Championship win in 50 years and also secured the Bill Russell Finals MVP trophy. At the moment, Antetokounmpo is one of the most unstoppable players in the league. However, there is one huge weakness in the European star’s game–the inability to make free throws consistently has bugged the 28-year-old for a long time. Back in 2021, a Phoenix Suns fan became Internet famous for trolling Giannis’ free throw routine using $100 bills.
Weighing 242 pounds, Giannis isn’t the heaviest player in the NBA. However, the 7-feet Power Forward is arguably the most dominant player of this generation. Using his freakish athleticism, the seven-time All-Star is able to go on a scoring rampage, while often guarding the best player on the opposing side.
Already regarded as one of the greatest Forwards in NBA history, Antetokounmpo has received a lot of praise from NBA legends over the years. Lakers icon Shaquille O’Neal, whose dislike for the modern big men is pretty well-known, has also hailed the Greek Freak as his next heir.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is a subpar free-throw shooter. Apart from shooting merely 70.8% from the charity stripe, the 2017 Most Improved Player is often criticized for taking more than 10 seconds to attempt his free throws. Over the years, we’ve seen numerous trolls mocking Giannis’ foul line routine in different ways. Have a look at this tweet from NBA Memes.

However, a fan managed to use a unique way to heckle Antetokounmpo during the 2021 Finals series. During Game 5 of the Suns-Bucks series, a fan in the Suns crowd started counting his $100 bills as the arena loudly counted the seconds(almost 15) leading up to Antetokounmpo’s shot. The clip recently resurfaced on Reddit nearly two years after the incident occurred.

Turns out, this is the same fan who got into a spat with Russell Westbrook earlier this postseason. After Game 1 of the Suns-Clippers series, Westbrook was heard telling the fan to “watch his mouth”. Have a look at Blake Christopher’s tweet.

Clearly, a huge fan of the Arizona side, this fan certainly enjoys the attention he gets frustrating players.
Giannis Antetokounmpo shot 17/19 during Game 6 of the NBA Finals
Giannis had an awful Game 5 outing during the 2021 NBA Finals, shooting-wise, knocking down merely 36.4% of his free throws. However, he would drastically improve his free throw shooting in Game 6.
Antetokounmpo knocked down 17 out of his 19 free throw attempts as he would go on to lodge a 50-point, 14-rebound double-double. His historic display was the driving force behind the Wisconsin side being crowned NBA Champions.
