'For $200 million, it could happen tomorrow': LaVar Ball throws down the gauntlet to Michael Jordan for one-on-one battle

LaVar Ball reignited talk of him playing one-on-one with the GOAT, Michael Jordan in his latest AMA today.

Back in 2017, when LaVar was talking up Lonzo and his draft stock, he made an outrageous statement. He reckoned he could beat Michael Jordan one-on-one. This is despite the fact that LaVar’s highest basketball experience has been from AAU basketball.

LaVar probably didn’t actually believe he could beat MJ back then. But he probably also believed in the saying: ‘There is no such thing as bad publicity’. He went against the tide and spiritedly took the backchat and ridicule that came with his assertion.

LaVar did not walk back his stance until this year, when he admitted that Jordan was decimate him. Shortly after, Jordan himself said he could beat LaVar even if he was handicapped.

LaVar Ball says he’d play Michael Jordan one-on-one for $200 million

Anyone who’s ever watched basketball seriously would know that even at the age of 57, Michael Jordan has more skill in his pinky than LaVar has in all of his body. Therefore, there is no chance of a PPV style showdown taking place between MJ and LaVar.

The eldest Ball, however, opines that he’d take part in the one-on-one for a suitable amount. He thinks he can take the court if the stakes are in the vicinity of $200 million.

Needless to say, it is probably just another tongue-in-cheek take from a man long acknowledged as a loudmouth, if nothing else. LaVar is plainly attempting to stay in the news and keep the focus squarely on the Ball family’s performance on the court.

He suffered a setback to his dream of seeing his 3 sons play for the same team when LiAngelo was cut from the Pistons 2 days ago. The middle child will have to persevere harder if he wants to see his NBA dream come true.
