“Gon Be Special to Dunk on LeBron James!”: ‘Alien’ Victor Wembanyama Makes His Intentions Absolutely Clear After Getting Drafted by Spurs

Over the years, we’ve seen LeBron James dominate the league despite the presence of several elite superstars across the NBA. At the age of 38, James’ illustrious career in the NBA is older than many players who got picked in the 2023 Draft. The majority of the youngsters in this year’s class have grown up idolizing the King and now prepare to face their role model in the league. Victor Wembanyama, who has been widely touted as a generational talent, recently overtook LBJ as the most hyped Draft prospect in league history. As Wemby prepares to showcase his talents on the NBA hardwood, he joined several rookies in revealing his desire to dunk the ball on the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

Since the Metropolitans 92’s two-game exhibition series against the G-League Ignite, analysts have been raving about Wembanyama. Regarded by many as the next biggest basketball personality in the NBA, the 7-feet-4 Center is expected to revolutionize the sport.

Despite being subjected to so much hype, the 19-year-old has displayed nothing but humility leading up to the Draft. However, Wemby did not shy away while exhibiting his confidence on Draft Night.

Victor Wembanyama explains why dunking on LeBron James would be ‘special’

Twitter user @BronGotGame recently posted a video of several rookies being asked to name the player they would want to dunk on. While a few of the youngsters named Anthony Davis and Giannis Antetokounmpo, a majority of the rookies expressed their desire to dunk on LeBron.

Joining Taylor Hendricks, Keyonte George, Bilal Coulibaly, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Brandon Miller, and Dereck Lively II, Victor Wembanyama also revealed how special it would feel to dunk on the King, who once called him an ‘alien’.

[I would want to dunk on]Everyone, but it’s gonna feel special to dunk someday, hopefully, on LeBron. Because he’s been like the icon of the league for so long.”

It is safe to say that the first Wemby-Bron matchup is going to be extremely exciting.

Of course, there would be no better moment for a rookie than dunking on James. Ask Jayson Tatum. With a target on his back, we can expect the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player to humble a few rookies eventually.

Wemby predicts the outcome of a 1v1 battle against Michael Jordan

Wembanyama was also asked to predict the outcome of a hypothetical one-on-one clash against a 60-year-old Michael Jordan. Now, maybe the answer would’ve been different if the question didn’t specify the age. However, there was no way that Wemby thought he or any of his fellow rookies would lose to a 60-year-old man, even if he be the greatest to ever do it. Have a look at his interaction with Brad Parker of The Score.

Brad: “Victor, who wins a 1v1 right now? You at your age or Michael Jordan at age 60.”

Wemby: “Woah, come on, man. Respect me a little bit.”

Brad: “He’s the GOAT though.”

Wemby: “Yeah, but at age 60, I don’t know any 60-year-old in the world who can beat anyone in here.”

Defeating MJ and wanting to dunk on LBJ? Wembanyama surely has his eyes set on stealing the prestigious GOAT title.
