“His Name’s Not Slim Reaper For No Reason”: LeBron James Cites Kevin Durant the Foremost Threat to His Inevitable Scoring Record
While the Los Angeles Lakers are in pursuit of a playoff spot, their protagonist LeBron James has shown no signs of slowing down. The 38-year-old has displayed that he has a ton of mileage left in his gas tank.
James and the Lakers had a rough start to their campaign, kickstarting their season and accumulating just two victories while amassing a staggering 10 defeats within the same period.
Nonetheless, thanks to the efforts of Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and James himself, the Lakers have now picked themselves up. As the midway point of the season approaches, the Purple and Gold sit in 12th, but are just eight wins away from the first rank.
James meanwhile, is on the cusp of rewriting the record books. He is on the verge of surpassing six-time NBA champion, Kareem Abdul Jabbar for the accolade of the leading scorer in NBA history.
On the off chance that someone could inevitably surpass him, James has had his say on the potential candidates who could shoulder that burden.
LeBron James lists Kevin Durant as the player to break his scoring record!
In a recent sit down with ESPN, James disclosed his insights on a vast number of topics, revolving around his future objectives as well as the inevitable scoring record he is on course to break.
James was then asked the pertinent question of who he believed could break it. While it’s impossible to state the names of future generations who are yet to grace the NBA, the King paid a tribute to another modern great, Kevin Durant.

The four-time NBA champion said:
“KD comes up, the first thing to come to mind for sure. His name is not easy money and slim reaper for no reason. He does it so effortlessly. His ability to shoot the three ball, shoot the mid-range, into the paint, but also to shoot 85, and 90 from the free-throw line. Those are key ingredients but the most important is about being available on the floor.
James went on to heap praise on the current generation of superstars as well, such as Kyrie Irving, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Luka Doncic, to name a few. He continued:
“We have a lot of great scorers in our league. With KD being one of them, Kyrie, Luka..he’s young, Embiid, Giannis. Those guys, they put up numbers on the board.”
The King reserved the highest praise for some of the modern superstars of the game.

Kevin Durant’s scoring prowess!
For the unversed, Kevin Durant is perhaps the pre-eminent scorer in NBA history. The manner in which he is able to score the basketball from any given point on the field is breathtaking.
The Brooklyn Nets talisman is currently averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 39 games this season. And has led the Nets to the third seed in the Eastern Conference.
His role in guiding the Nets to attain this position has led him to be a frontrunner for the NBA MVP award. Although he sustained an injury in the past week, best believe the two-time NBA champion will be back, just in time for when the Nets need him.
