Chicago Bulls legend, Michael Jordan reveals his almost detestable reason to join the 1992 USA Dream Team

Michael Jordan was absolutely blessed with all the talent in the world. After all, he had some serious athleticism and game sense on him. However, what made him realize it all was undoubtedly his dogged mentality.

Fans across the NBA, call this man the Black Mamba, before the Black Mamba (which is honestly a bit redundant since Kobe Bryant wished to copy MJ in every way). So, with this in mind, it’s pretty obvious that there are bound to be quite a few stories of his tenacity floating within the NBA community.

Now, you’d expect us to say something like ‘AND THAT’S WHAT WE’RE HERE TO TELL YOU ABOUT’. But frankly, we’re so shocked at how cheeky he is here, that we don’t even know if we can put it in that category.

Let’s get into it.

Michael Jordan once revealed that the only reason he joined the Dream Team was to make mental notes on his teammates

Personally, I think I may go Stephen A Smith mode right now.

Yep, the biggest reason for winning the gold medal at the Olympics for His Airness was not patriotism. It wasn’t pride. Nope, none of that.

Sure Larry Bird and Magic Johnson played a massive part too. But, we can confirm that this was his biggest reason.

Don’t believe us? Well then, here is a quote from the man himself, from the documentary, ‘Dream Team: The Birth of the Modern Athlete”, from the man himself. Take a look.

“I never had the chance to see how these other All-Stars prepare themselves for a game or practice,” Jordan said. “Or compete against them in practice each and every day [to see] what was their desire, their hunger, what drove them to eat, what drove them to play. That to me was why I played for the 1992 Olympic Dream Team.”

Jesus Christ!

If someone’s competitive drive could be split into pieces and given to other people, Jordan’s would feed the whole planet.

At the end of the day though it worked. After all, you can’t really argue with 6 NBA championships.
