Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade spent several years as teammates during their time with the Miami Heat. Their on-court chemistry would turn into a budding friendship off the hardwood as well. Sharing a brother-like bond, it was Shaq who had bestowed the iconic nickname “The Flash” upon Wade. However, D-Wade recently put their relationship to a test by inviting the 7-foot-1 big man to his game show “The Cube”.

TBS’ “The Cube” is a game show hosted by Dwyane Wade, that first premiered in 2021. With a cash prize of $250,000, the aim of the game is to beat the Cube by completing seven games.
For the latest episode of the 2nd season, the show has invited Shaq to participate alongside popular TV personality, La La Anthony and Wade’s wife and Hollywood actor, Gabrielle Union. In a trailer posted by TBS Network on their Instagram, Shaq can be seen trying his best to conquer the Cube and even offering to play the entire game wearing only his underwear.
Shaquille O’Neal offers to play the game in his underwear
The clip posted on Instagram shows glimpses of all three celebrities doing challenges allotted to them.
Meanwhile, D-Wade made a prediction about the Big Aristotle’s performance in the game show. Trash-talking his former teammate, the three-time NBA champ prophesized that the big man would do terribly, “I think Shaq is gonna do terrible.” Unfortunately for Shaq, this is not the only time he’s been mocked on the show.
Further into the reel, Shaq even “broke the game”. While failing to complete a task, the 370-lbs 7’1 giant seemed to lose his balance and end up falling and breaking the glass gate of the Cube.
Lastly, resorting to his usual antics, Shaq tried bribing the “Cube” for an extra life. Offering to complete the rest of the show in his underwear, the Diesel looked for two lives. The Big Man asked, “Cube, if I do the rest of the show in my underwear, will you give me 2 lives?”

The Lakers legend is one of the most hilarious personalities in the NBA community. We cannot wait to see just how entertaining his performance in the new episode is going to be.
Shaq took Wade under his wing in Miami
After spending eight seasons in LA, Shaq decided to join the Miami Heat in 2004 just a year after Wade was drafted. O’Neal revealed being impressed by the way the youngster carried himself on TV.
In his book “Shaq Uncut”, the 2000 Most Valuable Player claimed to have taught the 6-foot-4 combo guard how to act like a star. The 15-time All-Star mentioned how he achieved the same by implementing two methods-allowing Dwyane enough space to grow and teaching him how to walk and talk like a star. O’Neal in Shaq Uncut wrote:
“I was watching DWade on television one day and I said, “This kid could be special. He just needs somebody out there to give him some more room.” So that’s what I did—I gave him space on that court to operate, to do his thing. Off the court I tried to teach him some flash—talked to him about swagger, about walking and talking like a star, doing the commercials.”
A successful guru, Shaq must be proud to participate in the show hosted by his former teammate. Fans would be eager to see whether the game’s rigorous ways strain their friendship.
