“I just want to be able to play ball like I love to do, don’t care if it’s off the bench”: Kemba Walker, the $140M contract holder is making his case to play a role

Boston Celtics’ guard Kemba Walker will be out for their season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks tonight.

The Boston Celtics open their season tonight with a matchup against the MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks open their season with a quick road trip to Boston before they come back home to host the Warriors on Christmas day. The Celtics being their season with a 2 game homestand, first the Bucks tonight and then the Nets on Christmas day.

Unfortunately for the Celtics, their star point guard, Kemba Walker will be unavailable for the matchup. He received a stem cell injection on his left knee this offseason and is due for a revaluation in early January. However, Head Coach Brad Stevens believes it might take longer for him to return.

Kemba Walker and the others on the injury list for tonight

The Boston Celtics would be missing three players from their roster for their season opener. Tristan Thompson would be back, but coaches say that he would be on a minutes restriction.

In Kemba’s absence, the Celtics would probably use Javonte Green as their starting point guard. In his two preseason matches as a starter, Green wasn’t able to put up the best of the stats, but the 2nd year player surely would look to improve on that.

Another possible option for the Celtics would be Grant Williams. Although Williams plays the role of a forward, he can also substitute as a guard. The Celtics would surely give this decision some thought before their game tonight.

The Bucks take on the Celtics at 8.30 PM ET.
