The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers had a nail-biting finish to their bout last night as Kemba Walker nearly made the game winning shot after a botched possession from LA. The Lakers would go on to survive by besting the Celts 96-95.
Despite the loss, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were nothing short of spectacular. They dropped 30 points and 28, respectively, while both shot over 65% from the field.
The story for the Celtics this season has been their young wing duo slowly maturing into bonafide NBA superstars. Jayson Tatum’s ascension to superstardom commenced last season as he averaged 30 points in the month of February 2020.
Jaylen Brown on the other hand has finally taken the necessary leap forward this season. Tatum’s absence due to COVID protocols meant Brown would be the focal point of the offense; and he delivered.
Tristan Thompson compares Jayson Tatum to LeBron James
Tristan Thompson talked about Tatum and Brown’s development into superstars this past year. He seemed to be very impressed with the strides the two have taken recently.
“Just the work ethic. A lot of talented players that I’ve been across with, and they definitely work on another level. Reminds me a lot of LeBron and Kyrie. They put the time and effort in. What yo put into the game, it comes back.”
“A lot of talented players that I’ve been around, they definitely work on their game, but these guys work on another level.”

It is very evident that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been working on their game since making their way to the league. Tatum, who was prone to taking long 2s, expanded his range to beyond the arc. Brown also could be seen taking more 3s than ever before in his career, while also improving his handle and finishing ability.
Both Jayson Tatum and Brown have the ability to drop 30 on any given night and have shown their willingness to defer to one another depending on the situation.
