Jimmy Butler, Who Claimed to Take The Blame For Wolves’ 2018 Playoffs Loss, Inadvertently Doxxed an Unsuspecting Man With Hate Mail
Jimmy Butler is killing it with the Miami Heat in the Playoffs this year. But, back in 2018, things didn’t go so well. An early first-round matchup against the Houston Rockets sent Jimmy and the Minnesota Timberwolves home. It was a disappointing exit, and someone needed to take the blame. So, Butler offered himself, literally sharing his phone number to hear grievances. The only thing is, it wasn’t his number.
History shows that Jimmy Buckets’ run in Minnesota wasn’t exactly a fairytale. He spent a little more than a season there, and by the end of his tenure was desperate to leave. According to rumors, Butler did not like the players’ “lack of professionalism”. This made his exit especially dicey.
Nevertheless, as he does everywhere he plays, Jimmy fought hard for the T-Wolves. So much so, that he was ready to take the blame. This led to him inadvertently doxxing a complete stranger.
Jimmy Butler once doxed a man by sharing his phone number on live TV
In 2018, the Timberwolves qualified for the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2004. With a trio of superstars in Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Andrew Wiggins, they looked set to have a long run.
However, Chris Paul, James Harden, and the Houston Rockets had other ideas. An early first-round exit left Minnesota fans enraged. And, someone needed to be held accountable. So, Jimmy offered to be the sacrificial lamb.
In the press conference following their Game 5 loss, Butler came out and insisted he would take the blame. In fact, to prove it he “shared” his phone number on national TV, insisting anybody with a problem could call him. Unfortunately, he must have replaced a digit or two, because the number actually belonged to an unsuspecting man who received quite a bit of hate following the incident.
“Somebody’s gotta take the blame. I’ll be that guy. I’m okay with it. My phone’s in my back pocket right now. Whoever has anything to say to me feel free…773-899-6071. So, if you want an interview, there you have it!”
Unsurprisingly, the man was annoyed. But, hopefully, Jimmy will not have to give a fake number this year. After all, his Miami Heat is looking like one of the favorites to win it all.
Jimmy Buckets and the Miami Heat look set to make consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances
Jimmy Butler’s days with the Minnesota Timberwolves are long behind him. Now, he finds himself in a situation that he greatly appreciates with the Miami Heat. And, things are going swell. As it stands, the Heat are one of the favorites to win the 2023 NBA Championship.
Having dispatched the Milwaukee Bucks, they now hold a 3-2 series lead over the Knicks and are heading back to Dade County for Game 6. If all goes well, they could be making back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals appearances.

It certainly would be something, if the Heat manage to go all the way. Safe to say, it would be the highlight of Jimmy G. Buckets’ career.
