“Kyrie Irving Foundation provides over 1000 villagers in Pakistan with clean water”: 2016 NBA champion’s philanthropy helps thousands of Asians with their basic needs
Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving builds a solar water center in Pakistan to provide the villagers in Sindh access to clean water.
Irving is one of the most popular NBA players in the world. The former NBA champion is known for his razzle and dazzle on the court, as well as breaking opponents’ ankles.
The former rookie of the year’s greatness even extends beyond the NBA hardwood. Irving is known to be one of the most active social justice activists in the sporting world. The 7x NBA All-Star has often taken stands on sensitive issues that otherwise would not be taken by an individual of his stature.
Irving’s social justice campaigns were very prominent during the pandemic COVID19. The Nets star pledged $1.5M through his new KAI Empowerment Initiative to support the WNBA players, who decided to opt out during the pandemic and issues consisting of social justice.
In July 2020, Irving released a documentary of Breonna Taylor, a victim of police brutality. The Nets star resented playing in the 2020 Orlando Bubble and even tried gathering momentum for his movement by conducting a conference call with over 80 other NBA players.
The former Cavs player played a major role in the George Floyd justice campaign. In a statement, Irving said,
“We will not accept the racial injustices that continue to be ignored in our communities. We will not be kept in the dark when it comes to our health and well-being. And we will not ignore the financial motivations/expectations that have prevented us historically from making sound decisions.”
Recently, the Kyrie Irving Foundation built a solar water center in Pakistan to provide clean water to the villagers.

Recently, the NBA star’s welfare work traveled thousands of kilometers to Pakistan. Irving’s foundation built a Paani solar center in Sindh.
This center is providing over 1000 villagers access, to clean healthy water. The center is also facilitating farming for families and providing light to women and children.

Though Irving is one of the most polarizing NBA stars, nobody can deny the incredible work that he has done as a philanthropist. This is not the first time we’ve seen him helps those in need.
