Luka Doncic to Miami? The Ringer CEO Believes Mavericks Star Will Follow LeBron James’ Footsteps
So, there are predictions and there are PREDICTIONS. You know what we mean by that when we put it in all caps. You know the kind that sounds so outrageous and unthinkable, but you know there is a chance it might happen. That kind. And this latest one involves the name Luka Doncic.
The magician in Dallas is honing his craft and casting his spell on the opposition every night, however, there is a slight chance he is fed up. The Mavericks have a winning record sure, but they are far away from being a winning team. Without their wizard, they are 0-5. That is quite frankly astounding.
So what exactly are the Mavericks cooking up? They need to get a superstar and pair him with Luka, yesterday! But the roadmap doesn’t look too bright. And one sports analyst/writer/CEO thinks that in the future, Doncic might shift bases.

Bill Simmons thinks Luka Doncic might move to Miami
Of course, it is natural for big-name stars to want to move away to bigger cities. Places like New York, Los Angeles, and Miami are all big destinations. The lifestyle in these places is very high-end and the big market opportunities are simply limitless.
As per Bill Simmons, CEO of The Ringer, Luka Doncic might be the next big star to move away to the promised land. And he would likely follow in the footsteps of one LeBron James.
The two have been compared an infinite amount of times now and it will only continue. Luka is posting identical stats as LeBron did during the same time in his career, in fact, Doncic actually edges him out.
Simmons says, “5 years from now, what team is Luka Doncic on? I think it’s going to be really hard for them to put a good enough team around him. We know the law of the NBA. At some point, the guy just starts looking around. I think they’re on the clock. The Brunson game was a really dangerous game to play with this… the league is just getting better and better… How many years will he be happy?”
Questions have been raised in the past regarding Dallas’ reluctance to splash the cash but with an otherworldly superstar like Doncic at the helm, they should go all out.
While the idea of watching Luka in Miami is thrilling and intriguing, seeing players set precedent for moves in big markets is not great for the NBA.
What should we expect from Luka and the Mavericks this season
Luka is averaging stunning numbers this season. 34-9-8 are video game numbers. And all of this at age 23. Yes, one thing we conveniently forget is that Luka is 23.
He is already among the best in the league and we aren’t that far off from a conversation where we can firmly assert his name as the outright best. But the question marks surrounding his team are worrying.
The season has been a mixed bag for the Mavericks. On one hand, they sit 5th in a very competitive Western Conference. On the other, without their talismanic and transcendent superstar, they have been horrendous.
One thing is for certain, the road ahead might be foggy but as of now the visibility is clear and we can expect Luka to rain down terror on the rest of the league.
