“My defense was s**t”: Anthony Davis explains how he almost lost the Lakers the game despite LeBron James getting a triple-double against Spurs

Anthony Davis berated his own defensive efforts in regards to last night’s game and claims he almost cost his team the game.

The Lakers have looked pretty much like most of the general public expected them to look. They are boasting a 4-2 record following their win over the Spurs and even in those losses, the Lakers seemed like themselves. They were simply outplayed in those particular matchups.

The Lakers find themselves in the winning column after last night’s game. If it weren’t for that win, they would’ve been a .500 team and been much lower in the standings.

Anthony Davis and the Lakers squared off against the Spurs two nights ago where they handled business quite handily, winning 121-107. However, in their 2nd straight matchup, the Spurs looked to exact their revenge. It didn’t go so well as they lost a close one, 109-103.

Anthony Davis attributes the potential loss to his mediocre defense

Up until the last 53 seconds of the game, the score between the 2 teams was tied at 103 apiece. It was only a Kyle Kuzma tip-in layup that put the Lakers up by 2. The Lakers capitalized on this and expanded their lead to where the Spurs couldn’t make a comeback.

Anthony Davis spoke up about his performance last night. Though he led the Lakers to the win on the offensive end of the floor, scoring 34 points on 50% shooting, he didn’t seem to care.

Davis kept it short and simple and said, “I played like sh-t defensively.”

Anthony Davis was indeed a bit late on rotations on a couple possessions and only grabbed 4 defensive rebounds for the entirety of the game. It didn’t matter all too much in the long run though as the Lakers pulled away for the win. They will look to carry this momentum against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
