"Not Like Charles Barkley And Them Sleeping On Set": Months Before LaMelo Ball's $260,000,000 Deal, Father Lavar Hilariously Went At Chuck And TNT

Lavar Ball is one of the most polarizing figures in the NBA community. Although he has never played in the league, Ball and his family are represented by his three sons. Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo have all made a mark in the sport of basketball, and their father is profiting from it. Recently, his youngest son Melo signed a huge $260,000,000 deal with the Charlotte Hornets. And, while it is a sign of how brilliantly far he has come, many have struggled to give Lavar any sign of credit for it. This includes Charles Barkley, with whom ‘the Big Baller’ re-ignited his beef recently, calling him out on the GTHS podcast for sleeping on set.

LaMelo Ball has been playing on another level for the past couple of seasons. Drafted in 2020, the Charlotte Hornets star has averaged 19 points, six rebounds, and seven assists per game so far in the NBA. With stats like those, and potential seemingly through the roof, the Hornets made the obvious decision to sign him to a long-term deal.

Lavar Ball re-ignites beef with Charles Barkley, calling him out for sleeping on set

Over the years, Lavar Ball has established quite an unsavory reputation for himself. Known for being beyond rambunctious, he has appeared on several shows where he has gotten into it with the hosts. Most notable is his beef with Inside the NBA’s Charles Barkley, who, safe to say, is not a fan of the Ball family patriarch.

The two have butted heads on a number of occasions. Chuck has even gone so far as to challenge Lavar to a one-on-one and even suggested that he should be kept off TV. That being said, the two haven’t really had much to say about each other until very recently.

Lavar seems to have reignited this beef with his appearance on the GTHS podcast. Speaking about his lifestyle, Ball commented that he has reached a point in his life where he doesn’t have to worry about money and can wake up and go to sleep whenever he wants. He then highlighted how his life is unlike that of Barkley’s, who has been caught sleeping on set on more than a few instances. Here is what he had to say on the matter.

“It’s a beautiful thing because I don’t have to do nothing I don’t wanna do. I just do what I wanna do! So like I said, I don’t let the money drive me. So I get to get up when I want to. I go to sleep when I want to. I’m not like Charles Barkley and them and be sleeping on the set!”

Surely, Barkley will have a lot to say about this given their beef. It is clear to see he’s never been a big fan of Lavar, but he isn’t the only one either. Lavar has had plenty of beef with plenty of analysts over the years. In particular, he’s duked it out with First Take’s Stephen A. Smith. And, with him back on social media, he could lock horns with plenty of others in the near future.

Lavar planned on getting his three sons into the NBA the moment they picked up a basketball

Lavar Ball has been planning to get his sons into the NBA from the get-go. He made sure they were ready for the league no matter what, and even employed some rather unusual tactics. In fact, LaMelo Ball recalled one of these tactics in an interview where he revealed he was actually left-handed growing up.

However, his father, who felt being right-handed would be better, made both Melo and his older brother LiAngelo eat with their right hands. All because they kept hitting him while they were at the dinner table.

It certainly is a weird reason. But, when all is said and done, it helped Melo become the exceptional player he is today. And, as far as Lavar is concerned, that’s all that matters.
