Getting your first tattoo can be a scary affair, especially if you’re over the age of 50 and if you have a fear of needles. Just ask Charles Barkley, who was just about to become one of the bravest men on TV.

On last night’s program on NBA on TNT, the crew was greeted by a tattoo artist. Claire Whaling from Atlanta was in the studio to give the cast tattoos and Charles Barkley was rather enthusiastic about getting them until he realized he had to get one on the spot.
Of course, his friend Shaquille O’Neal was there to urge him. In fact, Shaq even dragged Chuck! All the way to the seat and even spanked him in the process. On live TV no less. How did Barkley react to it all? That’s the funny part.

Charles Barkley is befuddled and scared of the tattoo needle!
And as the crew and Claire, the tattoo artist show signs of seriousness, you can see Barkley is gripped with fear. He even asks Ernie if he has said the customary “goodnight” message yet.
And as soon as the tattoo needle starts buzzing, Charles lets out an “oh, lord!”. Yes, a 6’4″ 252 lbs NBA legend is scared of a needle. Needles don’t discriminate we think.
The challenge was to get a MOM on his derriere, and the positioning and the meaning of it are NSFW, and we’ll let you figure out the rest.
For now, you can watch the whole ordeal and laugh about it.

We particularly love how the crew is egging the artist on. And Charles is still in disbelief as to whether it is really happening or not.
Shaq and Chuck hug it out at the end!
At the end of a segment that was filled with good takes and bad, along with a typical argument between Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal, the two ended the day on a wholesome note.
“This is a moment.” 😭

As the two share a hug ahead of the holiday season, we’re reminded to be kind. No matter the situation, a little niceness and kindness go a long way.
