“Reporter Went after Kyrie Irving”: Former 6ft 11” Bulls Champion Lamented at the ‘Hypocrisy’ of Media for Underplaying Jerry Jones’ Past

LeBron James in spite of all his prodigious accomplishments in the sport of basketball is known for his meticulous nature and forthright character. James has amassed a stellar resume so far and is on the cusp of attaining more. However, the four-time NBA champion, since the inception of the past decade, has placed his focus on preaching about matters of importance.

One such subject was his perspective on the treatment of the Kyrie Irving situation. For the unaware, Irving made the headlines for all the wrong reasons recently. His statement on a sensitive topic relating to the Jewish community drew flak.

In early November Irving made a tweet about a post regarding a movie and book which represented, encouraged, and aimed hatred at the Jewish community.

Irving would then face the repercussions for his actions in the form of hefty fines and a lengthy suspension. Although Irving apologized for the incident, his name was still being tarnished by the media. Even with the incident concerning Jerry Jones being brought to light.

James however, would not stand for it and questioned the media as to why they still invoked Irving’s name but left out Jones over his scenario. Four-time NBA champion John Salley has shared his insights on the situation.

John Salley has responded to LeBron James’ query.

The former 6ft 11″ Bulls forward has shared his perspective on the situation.  He also shared his thoughts on James’ question to the media. The question ultimately ignited quite a backlash from reporters on the internet.

Salley stated-

“Kyrie said nothing..Kyrie said nothing, he posted it and a reporter went after him because he posted it.”

Salley spoke about how he watched the documentary himself and shared his thoughts on why the NBA took offense.

He continued-

“Just not the NBA. In the NBA, you can’t have a viewpoint. And that was the deal. You can’t have a viewpoint…I was there in 1963 or 1957( ‘What Jerry Jones?’) Yea, Jerry Jones. I was there in the 50s or 60s, whenever the picture was. Yes I was there. And then Kyrie:’ I watched this movie and I think I am a hebrew. But then you got Brett Favre likey hey, we gonna talk about it and then we not going to talk about it.”

Jerry Jones was pictured in Little Rock with white boys stopping a pool of black men from entering the school. Jones has even claimed credit for it, not shying away. Yet there seems to be no noise around the situation. Ironic.

The aftermath of Kyrie Irving and his statements!

The former NBA champion was slated for his posts, prior to being indefinitely suspended from the NBA. Irving was also forced to pay a hefty sum in fines. He also issued numerous apologies aimed at the Jewish community.

However, the 30-year-old has been reintegrated into the Brooklyn Nets squad once again. He has also performed tremendously well since his return.

Although the Nets don’t have the record to show for it yet, it’ll be a riveting season, to say the least.
