Russell Westbrook interrupts LeBron James' press conference

LeBron James and Russell Westbrook shared a nice moment with each other today. The 4-time MVP’s media briefing today was interrupted by Russ.

There are few players in the league as intense as Russell Westbrook on the court, if any. But his off-the-court demeanour is just like any regular guy. ‘The NBA is a brotherhood’ is as cliche a saying as they come. But cliches have a grounding in reality. Today, we saw proof of just that, as the two NBA greats greeted each other on camera.

Russell Westbrook crashes LeBron James’ presser

Russell Westbrook passed by LeBron James during his media interview. They had a short exchange which went this way –

Westbrook: “Hey LeBron, how’s it going? Good to see you brother.”

LeBron: “Hey my guy, hey buddy! I’m good, how you doing? How’s the quad?”

Westbrook replies “good”.

Westbrook’s quad injury

Russell Westbrook injured his quad in the Houston Rockets’ sixth game of the bubble, playing against the Spurs. He was immediately marked as doubtful for the start of the playoffs. His absence will be a blow to the Rockets’ bid to get past the Thunder in the first round.

Russ will have a big role to play in the playoffs for the Rockets, whom many consider to be title contenders. The Rockets finished 4th in the regular season with a 44-28 record – tied with the Thunder. This matchup will be a spicy one, as it pits the former OKC players against former Rocket Chris Paul.

If the Rockets manage to progress to the second round, Russell Westbrook will probably be facing LeBron James’ Lakers. The Lakers play the 8th-seeded Portland Trail Blazers in the first round, having finished as the top team in the Western Conference.
