Shaquille O’Neal Shares the Famous Clip of Allen Iverson Stepping Over His Former Teammate Ty Lue
The Head Coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, Tyronn Lue, did not just win an NBA title as a coach with the Cavaliers he won it twice as a player playing with Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. However, people often remember him because of an Allen Iverson moment from Game 1 of the 2001 NBA Finals.
The famous clip of AI crossing over a player with a similar physique and braided hairstyle in the Purple and Gold uniform is one of the most popular highlight reels of the NBA of, all-time.
Some of us know that man to be a former Lakers guard whereas some do not. However, Shaq is here for the latter ones.

O’Neal is a candid man. He does things for fun irrespective of the fact, whose image he is affecting, even if it’s his own. The man himself claims losing Game 1 of the 2001 Finals against Iverson’s Sixers is one of his biggest regrets because that was the only game they lost in that championship run.
However, he also recently shared an incident from the game that is more famous than that game or probably even the entire 2000-01 season. When Iverson crossed over his teammate and froze that moment forever as the game’s greatest highlight of all time.
The Sixers won that game 107-101 behind Iverson’s 48 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. That performance is also one of the best individual Finals performances.
It came against all the odds but would remain the only game the Sixers would win in that series.
How did Ty Lue take it?
According to Lue, he and Iverson have a good friendship and the cross-over never did anything to damage it. In his appearance on All the Smoke podcast, he talked about that incident, revealing, he just takes it positively because that highlight reel keeps him in the history books forever.
“You play hard, you’re gonna get dunked on, you’re gonna get crossed over, you’re gonna get a lot of things. And then guess what? I’ll always be in NBA history. They’re gonna show it all the time. So, I’m always gonna be relevant, no matter what happens,” said Tyron Lue.
What a great man! Imagine if it was Shaq Iverson who did it too. The Diesel would still be sour about it and definitely not share it on his timeline like this.
