NBA fans blast ESPN analyst Stephen A Smith for suggesting a senseless deal, trading Portland’s Damian Lillard for several New York Knicks players and future picks.

ESPN analyst Stephen A Smith is one of the best and well-known in the business. Starting his career as an analyst back in 2003, it is safe to say that Smith is one of the most experienced and respected analysts out there. However, even the best of the bests tend to make mistakes. And this time, SAS had a take that was way too brainless.

Widely known as a New York Knicks fan, the 53-year-old suggested an idiotic deal on his recent-most episode of “First Take”, trading virtually the entire of the Knicks starting five and picks for Portland’s Damian Lillard. This is what Stephen A had to say in one of the segments:

“Give them anything they wanted. I would give them Barrett, I would give them Randle, I would give them I would give them Obi Toppin, I would give them Mitchell Robinson, I would give them Emmanuel Quickley, I would give them not one, not two, but three first-round picks. I would give the Portland Trail Blazers all that and a bag of chips just to get Damian Lillard.”

NBA Twitter mock Stephen A Smith for his bizarre trade idea

Sure, Dame Dolla is an elite player to have on your squad. The Trail Blazers sharpshooter is coming off one of his best seasons, averaging 28.8 points, 7.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game on an impressive 45/39/93 shooting splits.

Of course, any team having Lillard on their squad is a title-contending team. However, SAS suggested an imbecile trade sending the entire New York starting five and future picks for the 6-time All-Star.

As soon as Stephen A Smith suggested this wild trade idea, NBA Twitter went off and ridiculed him.
