"They're Gonna Let Us Back In It": Shaquille O'Neal Shares Lakers Assistant Coach Motivating Anthony Davis With Deathly Words

Anthony Davis just couldn’t replicate his performance was Game 1 in Game 2 against the Warriors. While that is a bit disappointing, it should’ve been a little expected. After all, it’s hard to keep that kind of all-time great performance up for even a single game, never mind two games consecutively. Still, there is something for Davis that was a bit more regrettable. And it’s not something that happened on the court for the Lakers center. No, this article is regarding a certain statement that was made by an assistant coach of his that turned out to be akin to famous last words before being struck by disaster. And apparently, Shaquille O’Neal felt he absolutely needed to share it on his Instagram story.

Shaquille O’Neal shares Anthony Davis’s blunder of a statement on his Instagram story

Shaquille O’Neal has been on a bit of an Instagram story streak for the last couple of months. Every day he shares new posts that amused him on the social media site.

And apparently, Anthony Davis’s little statement to his teammates fell squarely into this little category of his. Take a look at the Instagram post by ‘Sportscenter’, along with a tweet by Tonoy Sengupta containing the screenshot of Shaquille O’Neal’s story below.

“They gonna let us back in it, they always do!”

Even with all the confidence assistant coach, J.D. Dubois’s confidence, Anthony Davis seems to be a bit more apprehensive about his statement, leading to his lack of response to the shout. And sure enough, the Golden State Warriors went on an insane run in the 3rd quarter, giving the Lakers a 30-point deficit to deal with at the time.

After that point, it wasn’t long before the Purple and Gold were forced to give up and accept a 27-point defeat in Game 2. Evidently, there is quite a bit of here in there, as far as Shaquille O’Neal is considered, something we can’t help but agree with.

Still, onwards and upwards as they say. Game 3 will take place in Los Angeles, at the Lakers’ home arena. And given how abysmal the Warriors can be away from home, there is hope that Lakers will win both games at their arena.

What were Anthony Davis’s stats in game 2 vs the Golden State Warriors?

In 33 minutes, Anthony Davis recorded 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks. Additionally, he shot 5 of 11 from the field, 1 of 1 from the free-throw line.
