"Y'all about to see Unicorn 2.0": Kristaps Porzingis vows to return in beastly for Dallas Mavericks next year after lackluster 2020-21 season

Dallas Mavericks star warns his haters with a confident post on Instagram promising a far more lethal version is on the way.

The Dallas Mavericks had a promising 2020-21 campaign. Not only were they able to avoid the play-in tournament to clinch the 6th seed, but the franchise also took the Clippers to an enticing 7 games. Unfortunately for Kristaps Porzingis though, he can’t really take a lot of credit for these achievements.

The 25-year-old started out the season sidelined with a knee injury, something he has become quite prone to getting inflicted by. When he did eventually come back, he seemed a shadow of his former self. And while a slow start was expected, the star never quite seemed to recover from it.

The playoffs were especially brutal for Porzingis. The player clearly wanted to make an impact, but just simply couldn’t. And after a point, fans had clearly grown sick of the Latvian. And as a result, the player has been linked in multiple trade rumors during this off-season.

With all the noise swirling around the star right now, something had to change. And, on a recent post on Instagram, it seems the Unicorn very much intends to do just that.

Kristaps Porzingis warns the league about ‘Unicorn 2.0’ as he goes into this off-season with a point to prove

There were several issues with Kristaps Porzingis’s game against the Clippers. Frankly, at times he had become a paradox of sorts. The player became a floor spacer who couldn’t shoot, and worse, a 7-footer who couldn’t get a bucket on the inside. In fact, most of the few inside buckets the player did have, were off some well-timed cuts, not off his own offense.

These signs are worrying, to say the least, because of which, fans have cried out for the franchise to trade him. However, with the player’s stock as low as it is at the moment, we doubt the Mavericks would be able to get a fair return.

So, the only option that remains is hoping that the player can show improvement. And his recent Instagram post is certainly encouraging on that front.

In the past, when players have gone into off-seasons with chips on their shoulders, the results have more often than not been incredibly impressive. And, given the talent Kristaps Porzingis possesses, he could still be one of those success stories, despite his injures.

Now it’s all on him. Will he show a hunger to fulfil his potential? Or are these simply words and nothing more?

Only time will tell.
