Harden and the Rockets struggled mightily against the OKC Thunder in the first round and barely made it out. They were then gentleman swept by the Lakers in the next round.
The Miami Heat however, breezed through the East and lost in 6 to the Lakers in the Finals. Due to the Rockets mediocre Playoff success, Harden has demanded a trade.
The Miami Heat were on his list of potential destinations he would like to be traded to. Talks between the Heat and the Rockets never yielded anything concrete however.
Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat are tuning out the Harden noise.
South Beach is still on Harden’s preferred trade destinations. With all the noise surrounding the ‘Harden to Heat’ rumors, Jimmy Butler was asked about it on Monday.
As expected, Jimmy Butler seems laser focused on the current iteration of the team, and is only concentrating on that. He said the rumors have “zero” influence on the team’s chemistry. Butler also stated that the Heat tune out the outside noise.
Whatever talks that took place between the Heat and the Rockets, they were reportedly centered around 20 year old Tyler Herro. It was first reported that the Heat made their 2019 13th overall pick ‘untouchable’.
However, recent reports claim that Herro is in fact not untouchable. It is also being reported that 3 point specialist Duncan Robinson is also a focal point of this deal.
Will the Miami Heat pull the trigger on James Harden?
The Miami Heat’s 2021 offseason plans of trying to lure Giannis Antetokounmpo have been foiled as the ‘Greek Freak’ signed a 5 year supermax with the Bucks.
This may the Heat’s only chance this season, to acquire a superstar of James Harden’s calibre.
However, it is being reported that the Heat do not have any interest at the moment, on trying to acquire James Harden.
